  • November awards: to be held at Build Boston 14 November at 6 PM.
  • Campus of Campuses: BAC is developing curriculum on sustainable design course or courses for practicing design professionals. Working meetings are ongoing.
  • Co-chairs of COTE: to assure transition of committee agenda, election of the 2002 co-chair will occur in January. One active co-chair will retire each year.
  • A coalition is forming for a Green Building Tax Credit similar to that passed in NY State. Some form of the bill must be filed by the Mass Legislature by the beginning of December. More information will be available at the November meeting at Build Boston.
  • Upcoming events:

Presentation by Charlotte Matthews of Payette:
Charlotte presented a residential project on Cape Cod that had several firsts for the State. Options on blackwater, greywater, and drainage were investigated and shepherded through the regulatory process and weighed for costs and benefits. The result was an AlasCan designed system that required little maintenance, a long lifespan, and minimal site intervention. The constraints of adjacent wetlands and small lot area contributed to a naturally beneficial system with many advantages over the standard septic/leaching approach. The committee was able to discuss the many options, prototypes, and experimental systems of water use.

    November COTE meeting
A special meeting will be held at Build Boston on Tuesday 14 November from 6 to 8 PM in the Congress Room. At this meeting, we will honor individuals and organizations who have made outstanding contributions in furthering green building and design.
